Services Offered

SHaRI (Springfield Harm Reduction Initiative) Project is the Center’s syringe exchange program. The purpose of giving out clean syringes and collecting dirty ones is in an effort to reduce the transmission of HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C.

Services provide:

  • Syringe exchange
  • Training on Naloxone use
  • Naloxone distribution

Available items include:

  • Syringes,
  • Sharp’s container
  • Tourniquets
  • Alcohol wipes
  • Sterile water
  • Band-aids
  • Cotton pellets
  • Triple antibiotic ointment

Individuals must enroll in the program and they must present their enrollment card at each visit. If you cannot make it to the Phoenix Center building, The Phoenix Center will deliver to those living outside of Springfield city limits in Sangamon County as well as Morgan County, Macoupin County, Christian County, Macon County and Logan County.
